The winemaker

Then comes the second generation with Jean DAUMOND, which continues to develop the property. We are then in the 1950s the wine is fermented in special cellar until the arrival of cooperatives who signs the judgment of the winemaking field. Then comes DAUMOND Marcel continues to develop the vineyard surface. But it must be hospitalized in 1972 for fifteen days. His son Jean-Claude replaces the time of his convalescence. He worked at the factory, but when his father capacity to return to work, he decided to stay at the property after tasting the freedom to work in champs.C'est in 1984, following a poisoning due a chemical that Jean-Claude decides to change course and seek certification in organic farming. The early years are difficles (crop losses due to disease, lower yields). After this adaptation time, Jean-Claude will continue to increase the area under vines and planted new varieties (merlot, cabernet ...) to arrive at the current area of 10ha in the 1990s This is 1999, the cooperative decided to release an organic wine. We are then the only winemakers in organic farming over the village and so we must find a name for our wine. Winemakers colleagues regularly report to Jean-Claude that his vines are dirty (not using weed killer, it happens that there is grass in our vineyards) and found there a lot of wild oats, this bad grass which for us is not one. The name immediately attracts the attention of Jean-Claude decides to use it for its wine. This period will last until 2005. From that date, we decided to try their luck in making their wine ourselves our grapes. In addition, 2005 is the year when William DAUMOND, representing the fifth generation of winemakers, completed his studies in viticulture enology. As our cellar is not yet built, we are helped in our efforts by the area of La Triballe in Guzargues, where Sabine and Olivier DURAND lend us a corner of their winery to make wine for three years during which we take to build our winery and buy the necessary equipment. So from the 2009 vintage we vinified on site in Vendargues.
