The winemaker

On the whole vineyard, the local geological diversity offers a wide variety of soils. the hills were carved in limestone, marl and Jurassic slates. In the plains, vines rooted in the ironstone Cretaceous and alluvial deposits of Tertiary and Quaternary eras. Soils are living elements of our land. For fertilization, only organic fertilizers are used. In addition, wood from pruning are crushed and buried in the ground in winter. A good organic content in the soil increases its capacity to absorb water and to return to the roots, which is very important in a Mediterranean climate. It also promotes the retention of soil organisms that contribute to air and ground balance, which is essential for fertility. Throughout operation, soil biodiversity is preserved through a restricted use of copper in the treatments (less than 2 kg / ha per year). Because of the dry climate, we can not afford to systematically enherber our parcels but only a quarter of the operating area is irrigated. On a large part of the vineyard, the harvest is done by machine but the grapes of the most difficult fields to access and old vines are still picked by hand.
