Assembled with a dominant Cabernet Franc and Merlot, the wines are the synthesis between style of the great wines of the Southwest and harmony of the Languedoc terroirs. Gérard Bertrand takes over the operation of Chateau La Soujeole in 2012, seduced by an exceptional soil and a particular climate very favorable to Cabernet Franc, dominant grape on the property. Located on the terroir of the appellation Malepère bounded to the west by Castelnaudary, on the east by Carcassonne and south by Limoux, Chateau La Soujeole enjoys a Mediterranean climate with strong wet oceanic influences from the West, giving this land a unique ecological entity, well-known botanists mingling plants and shrubs, Mediterranean and oceanic various species. The name Soujeole means "small stream" was the name of a small stream that fed a former natural dam. The family who built the property then resumed this name in the 18th century. With this eighth property, Gérard Bertrand to reveal large still unknown lands in Languedoc including the appellation Malepère. The wines of this property have exceptional characters.
