The winemaker

In the northwest of Narbonne in the vineyards of the Minervois, the vineyards of Château Laville Bertrou are located on an exceptional terroir of Minervois-La livinière, a land synonymous with great wines of the Languedoc. This unusual property, acquired by Gérard Bertrand in 1997, enables the development of powerful and distinctive wines that collect the rewards. Château Laville Bertrou is a reference in the vineyard Minervois-La Livinière appellation officially recognized in 1998. The ownership rules over a landscape of hills providing a feeling of warmth and hostility of nature. The vines surrounding a typical Mediterranean landscape, surrounded by scrubland and lulled by the sound of cicadas. Siran is one of the hottest places in the Languedoc with amounts of very high temperatures all year. It's a sunny land, warm but not dry through the limestone subsoil containing a large amount of water. Small plots of Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Mourvèdre bounded by traditional dry stone walls gave the best without suffering from drought. 8 hectares of Castle plots are very fragmented. History has it that the sheep was of high importance in this region in the nineteenth century. The shepherds then built stone walls to close their land. These stone walls are now features of the property. Plots were any stones because at the time of wheat were cultivated, olive and vine, the Mediterranean triptych. On these plots is produced: Le Viala. This wine represents excellence and characteristics of the Château Laville Bertrou. If the Château Laville Bertrou was a color: gray with gray-green shades reminiscent of limestone. If the Château Laville Bertrou was a character Corto Maltes, but man a gentleman with a cheeky side and a strong character. The time of day is the sunset.
