Vallée de la Loire
Domaine Belle-Vue
Château Belle-Vue is located in the commune of Macau, on the border of many of the Médoc's great classified growths. Although it is not considered as a classified growth but rather as a cru bourgeois, it is considered as one of the best. Its gravelly soil gives it ideal characteristics to elaborate powerful, balanced and delicate wines. Find out more

The winemaker
History
Centuries ago, ancestors worked tirelessly to take advantage of the fertile land in this area. After trying many types of plants and crops, it soon became clear that the soil and climate of this place were best suited for growing grapes. Viticulture then began...
It is from this heritage that Château Belle-Vue draws its know-how, from generations of winegrowers who have passed the word on good practices. The property, because of the quality of its wines, became famous at the end of the 19th century. It was integrated into another Château (Gironville) until 1997, then owned by the Mercier brothers and Rémy Fouin, an oenologist.
It is precisely the latter who greatly participated in the development of the estate, particularly with the renovation of the site of exploitation. Thanks to him, Château Belle-Vue will become a full-fledged property. Vincent Mulliez, a wine enthusiast, bought the château a few years later (2004). He took many steps to improve its operation: a new winery, a replanting of some parcels and a new team working on the estate.
Unfortunately, he passed away in 2010, his family and the team in which he had placed his trust, continue what he had undertaken during these six years...
A meticulous team
The estate is now managed by his wife and their 5 children, assisted by Vincent Bache Gabrielsen (technical management) and Christophe Coupez, the consulting oenologist. All together, they are pursuing a man's dream, while remaining attached to the traditional methods that have made the success of Château Belle-Vue. For this, there is nothing like the best tools on the market in the vineyard as well as in the cellar.
A few kilometers north of Bordeaux, the 15-hectare vineyard uses 3 flagship grape varieties of the region: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The first one is planted in majority (53%) then 27% and 20% respectively for the two other varieties. The average age of the vines is 30 years, which suggests that the vines are in the right period to produce quality grapes. Moreover, some vines are 100 years old and are cared for with great attention and method.
This care has been rewarded by obtaining the High Environmental Value Certification. Indeed, Château Belle-Vue continues its quest for excellence by changing its way of cultivating the vine: no more tilling of the soil, implementation of grassing in the middle of the rows... The property succeeds in reflecting its fabulous terroir composed of gravel by elaborating each year wines more and more pleasant to the palate.
Balance, subtlety and power will surprise you during your tastings...
