The winemaker

Domaine d'Orfeuilles, founded in 1947 by Paul HERIVAULT, is located on the former outbuildings of a medieval château that no longer exists. It now comprises almost 20 hectares of vines in the Vouvray Appellation Contrôlée. Spread over the communes of Chançay and Reugny, this vineyard is now cultivated by Bernard HERIVAULT and his son Arnaud, who strive to preserve traditions in both vineyard work and wine-making. We grow Chenin on clay and clay-limestone soils with a high density of flint. This situation, which is unique to our vineyards, gives our wines a distinctive "flinty taste". Depending on the stage of ripeness, we produce both wines for the traditional method and vins natures, which can be dry, semi-dry, sweet or, in certain vintages, syrupy, depending on the year. Average annual production is around 1,100 hectolitres.
