The winemaker

The earth, the vine and wine are the pillars of the family for 6 generations; after agronomist studies and work experience in various companies, Vincent NICOLAS chose to return to earth to resume operations and write a new page in the seams of Domain history. 15 HA of vineyards around the village of Turquant, wine village, also known for its cave. The vineyards located on the appellation of origin "Saumur-Champigny" takes advantage of the special geographical position; protected by the forest of Fontevraud Abbey and the Loire, it enjoys exceptional sunshine and mild weather. It was the Romans who called it Champigny or "field of fire" terroir because of this amazing microclimate. The story reached the news since the local vineyard was chosen to represent the Loire valley under the World Heritage listing by UNESCO. The soil is composed of clay and limestone soil warm on tufa rock that absorbs winter precipitation and restores slowly during the summer. The Cabernet Franc is the main grape of the vineyard. The field focuses on the gradual improvement of the vineyard (green cover, green harvest and leaf removal) in order to fully express the potential of the terroir. For the 2007 vintage, the very healthy harvest has raised to full maturity. The area is firmly anchored in a friendly growing process follows the vineyards of biodiversity development program promoted by the union of winegrowers of the AOC Saumur Champigny.
