Domaine Des Ouches

3.7
(6 customer reviews)
The Gambier brothers have been working like their ancestors for 8 generations on their estate, located in the commune of Ingrandes de Touraine. They vinify their wines terroir by terroir in the Bourgueil appellation. A first terroir with gravelly soil helps warm the vines and bring the grapes to maturity, producing a very fine rosé and fruity reds. On a more clayey hillside terroir, the grapes ripen more slowly and concentrate aromas. Combined with manual harvesting, this results in superior crus, aged in barrels. Find out more

The winemaker

The clay and limestone soils of Domaine des Ouches

Touraine wines are renowned for the quality of their fruit due to their clay and even limestone soils. Domaine des Ouches pays particular attention to this specificity, resulting in more concentrated grapes. To achieve this, the Gambier family has been growing Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for the reds and Chenin for the whites on 17 hectares for eight generations.

The wines of Domaine des Ouches

Cuvée "20" rosée is a very refreshing, light wine, perfect for a summer aperitif. Their dry white wine is typical of Touraine wines, mineral, and goes particularly well with cheese. The diversity of Domaine des Ouches can be seen in the red wines, ranging from light, young wines for laying down (the "20") to more complex cuvées. While Coteau des Ouches is a full-bodied red wine with very light tannins, Cuvée Romana, aged in amphorae as in antiquity, retains great aromatic intensity.
