The winemaker

The Vouvray vineyard was founded by the monks of the Marmoutier monastery in the 4th century. It lies to the east of Tours, on the right bank of the Loire, on south-facing slopes. Domaine du Clos des Aumônes, located on the outskirts of the city of Tours, in Rochecorbon, was built up over three generations until it was bought by Monsieur Coulon in 2018. "A trained oenologist, I chose to settle in the Vouvray vineyards for their potential to create great white wines". Since May 2018, Domaine du Clos des Aumônes has been run by Benoit Coulon, succeeding former harvesting owner Philippe Gaultier. The winery comprises 17 hectares of vines worked using sustainable agriculture. The single grape variety grown is Chenin, also known as Pineau Blanc de la Loire. The vineyard's terroir is made up of clay-limestone and clay-silica soils, providing roundness, freshness and finesse. Perpetuating traditional know-how with a passion for terroir, your producer offers you Vouvray Méthode Traditionnelle Brut to accompany your aperitifs and desserts. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the finesse and elegance of the bubbles in this cuvée. Vouvray Tranquille Sec goes wonderfully well with seafood, charcuterie and goat's cheese.
