The winemaker
This area belongs to the Grandes Roches wineries. Les Grandes Caves Saint Roch, located in the Loire Rochecorbon, are the largest troglodyte caves decorated in Touraine. These galleries dug in the twelfth century, are, originally, old quarries where they extracted the tufa; this soft rock becomes white in contact with light. This is the raw material that allowed the construction of the most beautiful royal residences of the Loire Valley. After stopping the extraction, in the fifteenth century, the galleries were used for various activities like rearing silkworms or mushroom cultivation, presented throughout the galleries. The climatic conditions are ideal for these crops are also a great asset for maturing wine, which today are aging our wines with fine bubbles Loire.Le 700 ha vineyard is located north of Poitiers, the departments of Vienne and Deux Sevres, the vine is planted in islands on the best land and the best sun exposed slopes, it is a clean agricultural landscape in Haut-Poitou where we find the "vines fiefdoms" distributed in field crops.
