A child of the Nantes region, jérôme bretaudeau set up his domaine in gétigné in 2001. This inquisitive winemaker is one of muscadet's leading innovators, both in the vineyard - biodynamically cultivated (certified in 2016), where classic melon de bourgogne rubs shoulders with chardonnay and savagnin (cuvée la justice), pinot noir (statera) and merlot (ornaté) - and in the cellar, where stainless steel vats, foudres, barrels, concrete eggs and amphoras form an experimental vinification and ageing park. The wines undergo malolactic fermentation. Recent vintages have reached a high level. The relaxation and energy displayed by the wines are absolutely invigorating: they offer a modern definition of great muscadets, shining with the right balance between ripe fruit and mineral expression. Domaine de Bellevue's cuvée gabbro clos des bouquinardières is made from Burgundy melon grown on sandy loam gabbro terroir. The wine is stirred weekly and aged for several months on lees.
