The winemaker

Located in the South Vendée, the vineyard is to be the most south of the Loire Valley equidistant between the Loire and the Medoc. Planted on calcareous topsoil ammonite Triassic, one third of the soil is oriented south hill, another hill in western third more exposed to marine effects and finally a third on last tray. Shallow soils are clay-loam texture, gravel, but rich in organic matter. In ECOCERT certified organic, fully grassed, the vineyard is in order to maintain this potential. A short stature, organic fertilization, treatments minimized for very modest returns (25 to 30 hl / ha on average). The seal of the Priory The Thatch: In 1962, it was discovered close to the vineyards a beautiful XIV century seal of the Virgin and Child labeled Aynor Lady Effigy Niel nun at the Abbey Our Lady extramural Saintes. Without that we know precisely the reasons for the presence of the religious on the island of Vix, one can assume that the British occupation period (Hundred Years War), the abbess of Saintes hurrying on his possessions for monitoring its best subjects.
