The winemaker

Located in Provence, in Bormes-les-Mimosas at the water's edge, the Château Malherbe has a vineyard that covers 25 hectares of land, enjoying a perfect sunshine. It consists of two wines: Terroir "Pointe du Diable" is located on the seafront on a predominantly sandy soil (old alluvial) strewn with quartz chips. The proximity of the sea and heavy morning dew resulting avoid water stress in summer. Terroir "Malherbe", located in the hills, the foothills of Cape Benat (Massif des Maures) is farther from the coast and has a red ground argiloschisteux. The presence of shale brings a nice minerality and high amplitudes between day and night allow the harvest of highly concentrated berries. Historically, Château Malherbe evolves in a strict approach to farming without herbicide or synthetic chemical that brought the property to get its 2014 Organic Agriculture certificate. At the castle, the constant search for excellence is a reality of each moment. Traditional vine management and farming methods are wines without compromise to quality. The harvest, exclusively by hand, are made late maturity. Sorting is meticulous and particularly rigorous winemaking work.
