The winemaker
In the early 20th century, Emily Bodin created the Clos Val Bruyère Cassis. Almost a century later, one of his grandchildren, Sophie decides not revive the area. The family bought the Castle Barbanau built a new winery and sells its first vintage in 1989. Located in the east of the Côte de Provence, Barbanau castle has 50 hectares of vines. The cool microclimate allows the wines to densify with a high potential for aging. In 2008, the area is certified organic and provides conversion to biodynamics in the coming years.
