The winemaker

In 1943, Catherine, Jeanne and Antoine Santini, three siblings become owners of the farm of Paternal. Operated in mixed farming, vineyards, fruit trees, cereals, it requires a major restructuring, which will take several years. It was Pierre Cathinaud, husband of Catherine, who is in charge of the rehabilitation of the property. The first bottling takes place in 1951. A fine gourmet, erudite, passionate about food and wine, he devoted his life to the development of the field. In 1962, Jean-Pierre Santini, his nephew, joined. Son of pharmacists, he prefers earth a clear path in pharmacies. He cleared the hill and re-creates the ancient terraces which are implanted, today the estate vineyards. Under his leadership, the vineyard extends from ten to twenty hectares. Chantal, his wife, they develop marketing to restorers of Provence and the French Riviera as well as export. In 1992, the third generation arrives at the field. Jean-Christophe joined his parents. In 1998, Olivier after oenology studies settles in turn, followed by its sister Laetitia. Welded and complementary, they divide tasks. Jean-Christophe does the vineyard. Olivier supports winemaking. Laetitia marketing and administrative management. In order to express the richness of the soil of Cassis, they decided to cultivate their vineyards organically. Since 2009, the Santini family is working with Bernard and Monique Piche for the operation and marketing of wines from the estate of the Crown of Charlemagne. The wines of the Domaine du Domaine Paternal and the Crown of Charlemagne are certified: organic wines. Today, members of the family work alongside a team of employees, motivated and competent, and together they are committed to continue the work begun, there are more than seventy years.
