The History of Clos Saint Vincent

Clos Saint Vincent is an old wine estate that has held its Bellet AOC since 1941. In 1993, the estate was bought by the Sicardi and Sergi families who decided to restore the glory to this vineyard, which had fallen into disuse.

The first measure is to enlarge the estate. However, it remains very small, as it covers only 6 hectares. Gio Sergi and his son, Julien, cultivate the small vineyard with passion and produce an average of 30,000 bottles per year.

The Clos Saint Vincent vineyard

Clos Saint Vincent covers 6 hectares, planted with 60% red grapes and 40% white grapes. The reds are 63% Folle Noire, 33% Braquet (or Brachet) and 4% Grenache Noir. The single grape variety for the white is Rolle. The average age of the vines is 40 years.

The vines are planted on terraces on the Saquier hill. They benefit from an excellent south-southwest exposure, as well as a soil favorable to the vines. It is composed of silica and limestone, with a layer of pebbles rolled into a very light sand, called pudding.

The sea breeze coming from the Mediterranean, as well as the wind coming from the southern Pre-Alps, ensure good aeration of the vines and help them to get rid of parasites naturally.

The estate is run with the utmost respect for the environment, using organic and biodynamic growing methods. The lunar calendar is scrutinized to deposit animal and plant-based compost at the right time: manure, crushed silica and nettle teas. No chemicals are ever used on the Clos Saint Vincent vineyard.

The Clos Saint Vincent wines

The Clos Rouge

Le Clos Rouge is a blend of 90% Folle Noire 10% Grenache. The wine has a beautiful ruby color. The nose is dense and tasty. The mouth is light, with sharp tannins that wait for the finish to appear. The wine is quite fat and delicious in the mouth, thanks to a wonderful roundness.

Clos Rouge du Clos Saint Vincent is best enjoyed with grilled lamb or beef, as well as dishes from the Provencal cuisine.

Le Clos Blanc

Le Clos Blanc is made entirely from the Rolle grape. It constitutes one of the best references of Bellet. It has a pale color and a very fruity nose. White peaches abound and mingle with delicious floral scents. The palate is soft, but lively enough to retain an ever-appreciable freshness.

Clos Saint Vincent's Clos Blanc can be drunk all year round, but it works wonders in the summer for its freshness that accompanies you from the aperitif, to dessert. It goes divinely with your fish, shellfish and seafood dishes.
