The winemaker

Anchored on their land since 1794, generations of winegrowers of Vergniaud-Bernard family have always known he had to spare the vineyard for it to have a long life; because it is the old vines that make the best wine and some parcels of the family date back to 1901 just after the phylloxera crisis. Let express a vineyard without forcing, in balancing the characteristics of the soil and the capacity of the grape, is the only way to preserve through the generations the true wealth of a vineyard. There are 3 types of terroir of the vineyards of Chateau Beauchene: - Alluvial terraces large rolled quartz pebbles mixed with sandy red clay (For our Chateauneuf du Pape and Cotes du Rhone our First Earth) - Quaternary alluvial stony terrace (for our Côtes de Rhône Villages Côtes du Rhône and our Grande Réserve) - reworked Soil sand-gravel hills (For our Grand Reserve Cotes du Rhone) also. In 40 years, it is more than 15 hectares of vines which were renewed to arrive today to an average grape varieties with 52% Grenache (for power), 32% Syrah (for its fruity and elegant) and 12% Mourvèdre (for its ability to aging). For white wines, Michel Bernard (10th generation of the family and current owner) has retained almost all white grape varieties (Clairette, Roussanne, Marsanne, Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc) for all have a special quality to make. Michel Bernard, who is also founder of the label "Nature and Earth, Protect", makes a point of honor to minimize the use of pesticides and agrees to make available to consumers the health analysis of all its wines . Chateau Beauchene is fortunate to be in a region blessed by the Gods where the sun and Mistral cleanse the vines and reduce processing requirements. The wines of Chateau Beauchene are a blend of power, finesse and fruitiness. But it is essential that these characteristics are balanced! The power should not become cumbersome, it must not prevail and dominate all by his alcohol and its excessive tannins. The good power is the one that knows how to stay discreet, which gives the wine roundness and length, a complex wine that awakens the curiosity and the taster knows showcase dishes without crushing them.
