The winemaker

Superb plot of Syrah in exceptional exhibition offered a dowry to Edouard Amouroux in 1880, the "Clos des Oratoriens" takes its name from a small chapel dedicated to St. Mark built in the eighteenth century along a piece of the field. The vineyard grows over time and becomes truly the Clos of the Popes Oratory in 1926, and adopts a new label that has remained unchanged since. In 2000 the estate was bought by the Ogier merchant who's mission is to raise up the quality of this exceptional vineyard in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Ogier will enrich the field of new plots of land pebbles and Smalto in 2006, and will launch towards biodynamics under the guidance of winemaker Didier Couturier from 2011. The Oratory Clos vintage red Papes is made from a vineyard of 25 hectares of vines benefit from the three types of field soil: pebbles, safres and limestone. The vines are in farming, in compliance with nature and lunar cycles. The soils are plowed to the horse, and the harvest is manual. The wine has aged in oak barrels for 12 months and is a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 8% Mourvèdre and Cinsault 2%.
