The winemaker

The operation created in the early 1900s, but it was from 1950 that Maurice BERNARD favored the cultivation of vines. His son Jacques BERNARD, has developed the vineyard to reach a total area of ​​50 ha. In 2008, Elizabeth & Philip BERNARD, son and daughter of Jacques-belle created their own winery in applying for certification in organic farming. The vines are planted on a soil made of red clay mixed with pebbles. These are rather dry soils and low vigor, very exposed to Mistral. The vineyard consists mainly of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre aged about fifty years on average (up to 75 years for the oldest plot). The vineyard is cultivated without fertilizers or weedkillers or chemical treatment, for over ten years. The soils are plowed regularly, maintained thanks to the contributions of organic compost in the fall and protection of the harvest is made only with natural products such as sulfur, copper, herbal teas (nettle, horsetail, willow. ..) and biodynamic preparations.
