The winemaker

Domaine Saint Clair, a 15-hectare family estate in the commune of Beaumont-Monteux (26 - Drôme), is a contemporary winery created by Denis BASSET, who has been promoting and marketing his wines since September 2007. The exceptional qualities of the terroirs, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph, and the grape varieties, Syrah for the reds, Marsanne and Roussanne for the whites, are complemented by traditional vinification using vines over 30 years old. After vinification in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, followed by ageing in oak barrels, the resulting wines are contemporary, with subtle, supple, yet very frank aromas, and a long finish characteristic of the grand crus of the northern Rhône Valley. The vineyards are planted on warm, draining pebble soil for the Crozes-Hermitage and granitic terraces for the Saint-Joseph, and benefit from a sunny, windy climate.
