The winemaker

La Cave des Vignerons de Roquemaure is located in the eastern part of Gard, in the heart of the southern Rhône Valley, 20km north of Avignon between Tavel and Chateauneuf du Pape. We produce the Cru Lirac and Tavel, Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Villages Laudun and the IGP Gard. Terroir Winegrowers of Roquemaure is deeply marked by the passage and the vicissitudes of the Rhone. a wide variety of soils is observed, it is not unusual to find on the same plot of pebbles, red soil, further clays. The soil of the PGI consists of alluvium recently filed by the Rhone. The terroir of Côtes du Rhône is composed of small pebbles but the bedrock consists of hard limestone is never far away. Finally for Lirac and Tavel, the land consists of red earth, clay and often sometimes pebbles, this high quality soil, allows the vines to have a regular water supply, without excess. Finally, a fundamental element of our territory, "the Mistral, this north wind, cold and dry, we hate winter, wards off diseases and cools temperatures in summer." The vineyard covers 360 hectares, it is made half by IGP plots and half by AOC plots. It is often said that it takes a generation to renew the vineyard and is the case with us. Plots are replanted every year but the soul of our wines comes from old plots established by our grandparents. The plots are planted AOC traditional Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan for red wines and Clairette, Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc for white wines. For IGP plots, traditional grapes alongside international varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Marselan.
