The winemaker

The inventors of La Fiole Côte-du-Rhône and La Fiole Châteauneuf-du-Pape chose Domaine de Barville as their prestigious family estate. This high-altitude Rhone Valley vineyard produces grapes bursting with aromas and the freshness of the Mistral wind. 23 hectares of vines are planted on the region's best terroirs of rolled pebbles, red clay and limestone. The vineyard is planted with old vines at least 35 years old. The wines they produce are well-balanced, faithful reflections of their terroirs. Laurent Brotte is in charge of Domaine de Barville, which comprises seven parcels on the best terroirs of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC: Pradel and Beaurenard. To ensure that his terroirs receive the utmost care, Laurent Brotte personally selects each vine stock at Domaine de Barville, ensuring that only the very best grapes are kept. La Maison Brotte is committed to sustainable viticulture, using as little intervention as possible so that nature can work in peace.

Our story begins in 1931, when Charles Brotte, then king of bottling, decided to settle in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and create his eponymous house. He invested a small amount of money to rapidly develop the wine business. By 1952, the years of hard work had paid off, with Maison Brotte's bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape becoming the most popular in the world!

It was a huge success, and exports were on the up. Wine lovers jump at every available vintage to discover what else the estate has in store for them. Maison Brotte stayed on course and developed well, embarking on a parallel adventure: building a wine museum. This was completed in 1970, when the first visitors were able to learn more about the region and wine.

From the 1990s to the 2000s, Maison Brotte acquired several estates and expanded its surface area. 23 hectares more in AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape with Domaine Barville, 32 hectares in AOC Côtes du Rhône Villages Laudun with Château de Bord and 22 hectares in Cairanne with Domaine Grosset.

Today, Laurent Brotte is the fourth generation to run the estate, accompanied by his wife and sons. They put their heart and soul into making wines that are as remarkable as they are affordable. What's more, all the wines are certified Terra Vitis, a very strict environmental label that suits the Brotte family, who work with the utmost respect for nature and minimal intervention...
