The Popes have resided in Avignon from 1300 to 1400. In 1317, Pope John XXII buys the Count of Provence (then a vassal of the King of France) Valréas and its surroundings ... The King of France will ensure the following that this territory is never connected to the Comtat (papal properties). The Enclave Valréas was born ... it is the largest of the Enclaves of Upper Comtat. And the one that passed through history and still exists today administratively, Vaucluse completely landlocked territory in the Drome. In the papal territories, many ecclesiastical disposal of "charges" and enjoyed income properties. The Holy Cross farmhouse is set on a ridge (as all farms are on the hillside where the springs gush): it was then a chaplaincy, ownership and benefit of a chaplain and consisted of a chapel surrounded some land. Many of these properties were confiscated during the Revolution. The revolutionaries were careful ... The Register of Confiscation and the Inventory of National Goods, preserved in the departmental archives in Avignon, August 2, 1792 mentions the confiscation of: "To the Holy Cross, two layers on the altar with two brass candlesticks and a Christ, the same metal lamp, an iron rod with a blue cloth curtain" and "have sold to Jean Joseph Roustan residing at Valreas land 4 palmate, 6 éminées 4 pods ... property belonging to the Republic as from the Valreas Chapellenie Holy Cross suppressed by the laws of 2 November 1789, 23 and 28 October 1790 " Subsequently, this property has been passed to various private owners until redemption by our family in February 2002, to Mr GuyLaussinot. The latter had acquired in 1963; the farm while operating only a few hectares of vineyards, lavender fields and small livestock. It was he who brought the area planted with vines and 25 ha.
