In a few words ...
The Gerin family has been established in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie vineyards, in the village of Ampuis, for 6 generations. This vineyard, located 30km south of Lyon, is the northernmost appellation in the Rhône Valley, and also one of the smallest, covering just 280ha. The influence of Mediterranean and continental climates produces wines that are tannic and powerful, but also silky and elegant. The king grape variety, Syrah, is sometimes blended with Viognier to add finesse to the wines. domaine jean-michel gerin was founded in 1983, symbolized by the purchase of a parcel of land in côte-rôtie. The first bottle was produced in 1987, thanks to the takeover of the family estate (the vineyards of Marcel Gerin and Alfred Gerin, grandfather and father). The adventure continued in 1988 with the first separate vinification of "les grandes places", followed in 1996 by "la landonne". In early 1990, the construction of a vat room and a barrel cellar became necessary. Bottle storage was built in 2000. In 2002, a new adventure began with two winegrower friends, Peter Fischer (Château de l'Aigle) and his family.

Aromas of garrigue and black berries with a touch of spice. A pleasant Syrah with a fine acidic structure. A very pretty wine

I'm very pleasantly surprised by this Syrah, you can really feel the fruity aromas and it's fresh! A delight with cheese and I recommend it!

The appellation Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes is part of the region of Vallée du Rhône from France which include Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin and its 20 cuvées. Spread over The Rhone Valley and its rich, complex terroirs. The region is divided into two distinct subregions: Northern Rhone (known as Rhône Septentrional) and Southern Rhone (Rhône Méridional). In the former we find strong wines in beautiful colours with warm, spicy notes, produced by vineyards that stretch 4,700 ha along the Rhone. The latter, with an area of 71,000 ha, is much more important, and this is evident of course in its annual production of red, rosé and white wines quite unlike those of the Northern Rhone., this region is 3 million hectolitres per year of red wines, rosés, dry and sparkling white wines, and natural sweet wine..
