The winemaker

The first plantations appear to have been done before AD by the discovery of fragments of amphorae dating back to that time. During the Middle Ages, an energetic bishop seems to have played an important role in developing awareness of Cahors wine. The river Lot also allowed transport to the Atlantic ports that favored trade. It was noticed and the Cahors wine was listed on the London market in 1225. Very popular in the Russian court, Cahors wine was a favorite of Tsar Peter the Great The epidemic of phylloxera came break the success of this vineyard in 1876. The domain :  The family moved to JOUVES Cournou for over three centuries. The lands and vineyards passed from father to son since ancient times. The legend says that an ancestor of the family, one day, delivered the wine to the king of France or may be the Czar of Russia. On his return to the villagers nicknamed "Lou Prince" (Prince) because he had seen the king. This nickname is still used by some old families of Cournou. The farm is starting a polyculture farm and livestock as they all are until 1947 year in which a variety resistant to phylloxera is planted in the soil. Vines then become more important to other cultures.  This is the rebirth of the vineyard Harvests of JOUVES family are then vinified in the cooperative Parnac. Then in 1971, the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) granted Cahors vineyards, it is then that Jacques JOUVES decides to market his crop itself bottles. The PRINCE FIELD was born.
