The winemaker

The Szepsy family has been cultivating vineyards in the Tokaj-Hegyalja region since the late 16th century, and is credited with the discovery of Aszü, a noble rot. István Szepsy, his winemaker, was a key figure in the founding of the Royal Tokaji Wine Company, and has been producing his own wines under his Szepsy estate since 1987. István Szepsy focuses on the quality of his vines, not quantity. Today, the estate covers 63 hectares of vineyards in the village of Mad.
