In a few words ...
Cabernet Franc was first planted in the region by Abbé Breton in the time of Richelieu. "Our grandparents' generation didn't drink Chinon, Bourgueil or Saint Nicolas, but "Breton", pronounced "Beurton". Who in the Loire region didn't hear in their childhood "Mamie cleans the oilcloth while I serve a shot of beurton to the little guys who came to see us"? (Antoine and François Jamet, winegrower brothers).
