Poggio antico - brunello di montalcino 2016poggio antico is located in montalcino, tuscany, italy. It was created in 1976 from the union of the i poggi, madre and le martine vineyards. Poggio antico sits on the highest wine-growing hill in the entire appellation, south of the village of montalcino. The 35-hectare vineyard is cultivated close to 500 meters above sea level. The ancient, mixed soil is composed of limestone and galestro (marl), forcing the Sangiovese grape to express itself to the full. In 2017,marcel van poecke acquired poggio antico via atlasinvest. A new team of local agronomists and oenologists is created and led by federico trost. The vineyard obtained its first organic certification in 2020. brunello di montalcino 2016 is made with sangiovese using the traditional method. Each vineyard parcel is harvested according to personalized harvest schedules. The grapes are examined three times: at harvest time, on the sorting table and using an optical sorter. Each parcel is vinified and fermented separately, then blended before bottling. Brunello wines must be aged for at least 5 years, with a minimum of 2 years in barrel and 4 months in bottle.cépage : 100% sangiovese
