In a few words ...

The name chambolle is derived from the Latin word >, which suggests that the village's origins here date back to Roman times. The vineyards of chambolle-musigny adjoin those of morey saint-denis and gevrey-chambertin to the north, and the hamlet of vougeot to the south. With a surface area of just over 180 hectares (including 61 hectares of the 24 premier crus), the vineyards are planted on soil composed of limestone, pebbles, gravel and scree from the combe de chambolle. The Chambolle Musigny appellation offers elegant, subtle wines, wines of silk and lace, the most feminine wines of the Côte de Nuits.
The 1975 vintage was an excellent one, with a small crop, but one that took a little time to make. The red wines were full-bodied, with all the qualities of great wines that didn't always live up to their promise.
