Cote de Blaye wines are supple, round and well-balanced, with fine, silky tannins and a solid structure. 1995 was a very fine summer. In September, however, growers thought it would be a repeat of 1994. Rain arrived on the 7th, but it was sparse and concentrated, so there was no dilution effect, especially as the vines were suffering from drought. Fine weather returned on September 17.
