In a few words ...
Cabernet Sauvignon rarely appears in Pomerol blends. The crus have never wanted to be classified. Pomerols combine roundness and suppleness with real power. Production is mostly family-run, and despite a few large estates, the average surface area of the 140 estates is only 6 hectares. They have a deep color, a powerful nose of black fruits and floral and animal notes, a well-structured tannic structure and a long persistence on the palate.
The 1971 vintage did not produce large volumes but was of excellent quality, sometimes even superior to the 1970s. The red wines are evolving very well, with the best still at their peak.
