The Wine I LoveEstimated delivery between 1 and Apr 3,
Vintages in 9 have always had a special flavor for winemakers. And we're delighted to see that 2019 is no exception. Admittedly, it wasn't all plain sailing, and we had to deal with chaotic climatic elements that required us, even more than in the past, to work to the highest standards in every one of our decisions. After a smooth flowering in early June 2019, it was a very hot summer, alternating between periods of great drought and beneficial rainfall, that enabled these small, concentrated, juicy berries to ripen with great enthusiasm, in both the Merlot and Cabernet varieties. Harvesting began on September 17, following an even more precise and meticulous protocol, enabling us to pick the grapes at the right stage of ripeness in each individual plot. Vinification, either in full or in wooden vats, went off without a hitch, and right from the start we were impressed by the purity of the fruit and the finesse of the tannins. This will undoubtedly be a great vintage for Rouget.
