Located in Dalmatia, this estate grows mainly Plavac Hvar, the local red grape variety. Vine-growing in Croatia dates back to the first settlers. The Greeks brought wine-making to the region, and the Romans perpetuated this tradition by settling over an entire part of Croatia. But with phylloxera and wars, winegrowing was totally abandoned for many years. However, in the last 10 years or so, Croatia has decided to bring its wine heritage back to the fore. François Lurton sensed the potential of this region's still little-known wines, and decided to exploit the potential of these new terroirs and grape varieties by importing them to France. Plavac Mali, from which François Lurton's cuvée is made, is a thick-skinned variety with a very sweet juice. It produces fairly tannic red wines with a highly perfumed bouquet. It produces some of the finest wines in the region.
