The winemaker

In 1979, we turned to a genuine and sustainable viticulture, and the old vines are retained. Convinced that the brand of terroir in our wines is directly linked to soil life, the 1st composts are applied in 1982. After discovering great wines biodynamic, our qualitative results of the years 1990-2000 (various international awards and the title of winemaker of the year in 1993) are not up to our expectations. In 2002, new courses, visits, discoveries; certain ancestral and empirical practices are explained and their extension in biodynamics. In 1982, Albert Hertz area gradually reduced, then eliminated the use of fertilizers and chemicals. He adapted the soil, the vine and all its surroundings to its philosophy: produce authentic wines that express more of the grape variety, terroir from which they come, with natural means and, since 2006, Albert Hertz has taken the step of culture biodynamic method. The harvest is still manual and traditional vinification in oak barrels is complemented by the latest winemaking techniques. Biodynamics allows natural creativity that can be transcended by those who perceive, feel; land and wine become a living organism. The complicity of man and respect for natural balances, give birth to naturally more stable wines, tasty, minerals, salt, so expressive reflections of their region and in perfect harmony.
