The winemaker
From Beaujolais and respect for the terroir
It was in 1999, after having worked in biochemistry and in cooking, that Christophe Pacalet decided to create the domain "Les Marcellins" with the help of his very renowned uncle Marcel Lapierre. Naturally, the estate is located in the Beaujolais region south of Villié-Morgon.
Once installed, Christophe Pacalet selects plots of old vines, which he cultivates with care and precaution in the respect of the soil and nature. Harvested by hand, the vines produce grapes picked at optimal maturity and transported in small crates to preserve the quality of the grapes. In the winery, the wines are vinified without inputs and without sulfur.
This ethic he acquired thanks to the heritage of his uncle Marcel Lapierre, a great emblem of natural wines in the Beaujolais region.
Typical local wines
From this love of nature and terroir comes typical wines expressing the different facets of the emblematic grape variety of the region: the Gamay. No less than ten appellations are produced by Christophe Pacalet, expressing in as many different ways the Gamay.
The wines are thus produced under the following appellations: Beaujolais-Villages, Julienas, Côte de Brouilly, Moulin-à-vent, Chiroubles, Saint-Amour, Chenas, Beaujolais Blanc, Fleurie and Beaujolais Nouveau.
You can have the pleasure of tasting an AOC Côte de Brouilly 2019. Its color is bright and attractive, frank ruby. Its nose is fresh, delicately fruity in blueberry, blackberry and plum tones. It is a fruity and joyful wine.
