The winemaker

From a family of winemakers handed down from father to son since 1911, Pierre Charte set up in the Beaujolais region with a 5-hectare estate in Fleurie, Chiroubles and Morgon. In 1972, the adventure really began for Domaine Ludovic Charvet. That's when his father, Jean Paul Charvet, was just starting to market his production in the Beaujolais region. In 1995, his son Ludovic took over the reins of the estate. Being spread over 3 AOCs enabled Ludovic Charte to exploit the complexity of Beaujolais terroirs. The wines of Chiroubles, for example, are the most delicate and mineral, as the vineyards are located on high ground. Fleurie wines are fruity and velvety, the ideal texture for white meats. Morgon wines are the most full-bodied and ample. Red meat makes an excellent companion for this AOC. At Domaine Ludovic Charvet, some of the Morgon grapes are aged in oak barrels for even greater depth and body.
