The winemaker
The vineyard Batailley is 58 hectares of Graves thin and deep sands, located east of Lynch-Bages and Grand Puy Lacoste. Planted at a density of 8,000 vines per hectare, the vines have an average age of 40 years. About 70% of vines are Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, the remainder being split between Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The crop mode Batailley is conventional and the harvest is manual. During that war, the French regained Chateau Latour which was occupied by the British and which marked the end of British rule in Aquitaine. Property since 1920 of the Borie family, Batailley belonged to the eighteenth century to St. Martin, and in the nineteenth century to Guestier. In 1961, the Castle between Batailley by succession in the heritage of the Castéja family. Today is Philippe Castéja administering this superb property.
