The history of the Château Carignan estate

Throughout its existence, Château Carignan has been owned by several well-known historical figures. Built in the mid-15th century, the château has belonged to barons, generals and then to powerful families of the time. Château Carignan has been owned by Andy Lench since 2007.

Characteristics of the Château Carignan terroir and vineyard

The vineyard has been producing wines under a recognized appellation: the AOC Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux since 1973. The vineyards cover 65 hectares and the estate itself is equivalent to 150 hectares of land. The vines have been planted on the Bordeaux region's special clay-limestone soil. The vines are cultivated with respect for nature, using manure and traditional methods.

The wines of the Château Carignan estate

The vineyard's grape varieties are 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Different shades of Merlot are produced, which contributes to the quality and richness of the estate. Cuvées include Château Carignan, Prima and L'Orangerie de Carignan. These cuvées include red wines with or without sulfates, white wines and rosés.
