The winemaker

Bought from the city of Bordeaux in 1997, the Feytit-Clinet estate was hard-fought for by the Chasseuil family in 2000, as Feytit-Clinet had previously been tenanted by J-P Moueix. There are no imposing châteaux or gaudy cellars at Feytit-Clinet. The facilities, located behind the family home, are simply functional and adapted to the size of a winegrowing estate of less than 7 ha. The current aim of the Chasseuil family is to rebuild the reputation of a cru that fell into disuse at the end of the 20th century. With a surface area of 6.5 ha, the vineyard is on average 30 years old, and comprises 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Situated on gravelly-sandy soils, the vines are traditionally cultivated; each year, de-budding, leaf-thinning and green harvesting are carried out to regulate yields and optimize grape ripening. Total production is around 30,000 bottles, including the second wine, Les Colombiers de Feytit-Clinet.
