The winemaker

Château Haut-Lagrange is located 15 kilometers south of Bordeaux, in the commune of Léognan, in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, a local Graves appellation. It is surrounded by several Graves Grand Cru Classés. When planting the vineyard, Francis Boutemy, optimizing his perfect knowledge of this Graves terroir that he has seen evolve over the decades, listened to the sound advice of the best vine and wine specialists and implemented traditional growing techniques with high-performance equipment. He has also selected the grape varieties, rootstocks and clones best suited to the geological characteristics of the terroir. Terroir with remarkable natural drainage thanks to a uniformly distributed layer of gravel composed of sand, gravel and pebbles, and an exceptional gravel layer of quartz, quartzite (ochre, white, pink, etc.), jasper, flint and lydian. Subsoil: Composed of sand, clay, alios, limestone and cliffs from the Tertiary era.
