The winemaker

The Chateau Haut Piquat located on the appellation Lussac Saint Emilion was the first property acquired in 1972. From the elegant Chateau Haut Piquat, the view is superb combed the hills of vineyards and wood and particularly the Picampeau mound where an amazing megalith is. Today, the castle displays 22 hectares in one piece on great limestone plateaus and hillsides covered with red sandy clay formations where noble varieties can express their full potential. Reasoned Culture was introduced in 2001. The fermentation is traditional 28 ° / 32 ° C with a maceration of about twenty-one days. During the first days of fermentation, two to three daily pumping are performed to extract the best tannins. A superb cellar four hundred seventy barrels built in 1997 houses the wine to let it age 18 months in oak barrels. Chateau Haut Piquat was first the subject of major work to restore the vineyard. The land was drained and reshaped to obtain large plots more easily exploitable. The vineyard was replanted mostly and row spacing increased from two meters to one meter fifty on the whole vineyard.
