The winemaker
History of the Château Haut-Vigneau estate
The Château Haut-Vigneau estate is located in the commune of Martillac. It was once an integral part of the estate belonging to Baron de Montesquieu. Baron de Montesquieu was a winegrower and writer in the Vigneau de Haut area, where vines were planted. Château owner Éric Perrin has been producing red wine for 20 years. The bottles develop subtle aromas on the palate in addition to their sublime fruity notes of blackcurrant and blackberry. Added to this are notes of roasting, combining elegance with finesse.
The characteristics of Château Haut-Vigneau
The Haut-Vigneau vineyard is fairly recent, as it was only in 1988 that the owners planted the first grapes. A deforestation program was undertaken to remove the pine trees that had occupied the area. Red vines were then planted, including 45% Cabernet and 55% Merlot. It was only around 2016 that the owners decided to plant white grapes, as Éric Perrin had wanted to produce them for some time. These white vines are made up of 15% Semillon and 85% Sauvignon.
The wines of the Château Haut-Vigneau estate
The Château Haut-Vigneau estate offers two types of wine.
- Château Haut-Vigneau-AOC Pessac Léognan Rouge has a beautiful red color. Made from gravelly soils typical of the AOC, it is associated with floral and fruity aromas.
- Château Haut-Vigneau white has a lovely yellow color. On the nose, it gives off a lovely scent of mango, but on the palate, it's more exotic and fruity. Coming from a stony soil, this wine is truly typical of the AOC Pessac Léognan appellation.
