The winemaker

JS, winemaker of the field, we talk a bit about wines of Château Bishopric: How to define the wines of Château Bishopric in three words? I try to work my wine in three axes. I like making wine fun. Then I like my wines are elegant, I like the balance. The last axis is authenticity, stay true to what we do and do not betray the terroir. What is your best memory of winemaker at Chateau Bishopric? The harvest of small Verdot with my daughters. I planted the vines in 2010 and the first harvest was in 2014. It was early November with my two daughters Rose and Louise who had 9 and 12. We picked the grapes of 600 vines all three, almost in winter, with our buckets and our pruning shears. It is a memory of incredible family sharing. To whom are you your wine? For my friends. If I do something that makes them happy it tenfold mine. And I think that if they like it, there are chances like it to strangers who are the vast majority of my customers. There is a form of ingratitude in wine in the sense that we are investing heavily, and at the same time very quickly this is a job that belongs to us.
