The winemaker

The history of Château La Bridane

Château La Bridane takes its name from Abbé Bridane. At the end of the Ancien Régime, he was the parish priest of Saint Laurent du Médoc, but at the same time ran a mill in Reignac (now Saint Julien). Favoring the ideas of the Revolution, the clergyman was able to continue his ministry and milling activities without hindrance. Today, he remains a legend in the region.

Chateau La Bridane has been a family property for three centuries. Today, it belongs to the descendant of this long line of Médoc winegrowers, Bruno Saintout. This wine enthusiast is also at the helm of Château du Perier, a Cru Bourgeois in the Médoc AOC, and Château de Cartujac, a Cru Bourgeois in the Haut-Médoc AOC. Since 1984, Bruno Saintout has been a member of the Vignerons Indépendants (Independent Winegrowers) association, and has established an international reputation for his wines. Bruno Saintout has trained his children to run his vineyards, passing on his passion and philosophy. Destined to succeed their father, they gradually took over the reins of the three estates.

The Château La Bridane vineyard

The Château La Bridane vineyard extends over 15 hectares covering the land to the west of the Saint Julien appellation. The vines occupy the highest point of this terroir, facing the Gironde estuary. It overlooks several of the Médoc's Grands Crus Classés. Château La Bridane's vineyards are planted exclusively with red grapes, 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot. The average age of the vines is 35 years, and average annual production is 50,000 bottles.

Château La Bridane produces an eponymous red wine, belonging to the Saint Julien appellation d'origine contrôlée.
