The winemaker
The history of Château La Renommée
Since 2014, Château La Renommée has been incorporated as a wine-growing landholding group. The estate is managed by Jean-Noël Doublet, from a well-known family of winegrowers in the Entre Deux Mers region.
The Château La Renommée vineyard
The Château La Renommée vineyard covers 12 hectares, mostly located in Saint-Emilion. The vines are planted on a variety of terroirs, enabling us to produce a wide range of cuvées. Soils can be clay-limestone, sandy-clay or sandy-gravel. Most of the vines are Merlot (80%). It is complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The estate is run as naturally as possible, in the purest tradition of the Bordeaux region. Organic amendments are made every year in autumn. No weedkillers are used, and superfluous undergrowth is controlled mechanically. Château La Renommée is currently experimenting with the use of different plant cover and vine auxiliaries, with the aim of promoting biodiversity and creating a natural balance.
