The winemaker

The vineyard of 14 hectares is planted on clay soils with grape varieties dominated by Merlot (90%) and supplemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec (5% each). The average age of the vines is 50 years and planting density of 6,800 vines / ha. Culture is made both respecting and making maximum use of the natural environment. The soil is worked to the plow and amended but no chemical weed killers or insecticides are used. Yields are limited (35 hl / ha for the Château Jonqueyres). The winemaking is also conducted in the most traditional way with a quality goal. Besides the "Castle Jonqueyres" Blaye appellation, the estate produces a wine more accessible "The If the Jonqueyres" in Premières Côtes de Blaye, from another vineyard "Clos Alphonse Dubreuil" appellation Côtes de Bourg .
