The winemaker

The estate was founded under Napoleon by Laure Gallix de Mortillet, when the male members of the family held important positions in the emperor's army. But the wine business took off with her son François Marie Joseph. Production benefits from a terroir with mixed clay and sand soils mixed with stones. This exceptional Médoc is a blend of three grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Whatever the vintage of Château Roquegrave, all the criteria of a Cru Bourgeois are met. In other words, it is both elegant and powerful on the palate.
