The winemaker

Marcillanet, a pretty manor house surrounded by vines, oaks, pines and moors; its beautiful renaissance door, its terroir and its wines; is a passion shared since 1991 by Marc Ponsar and his father-in-law Jean Mahieu. Since then, Marc Ponsar and his wife Claire have worked to develop their vineyard by highlighting the specificities of the property. It is a very old vineyard: the presence of vines seems to date back to the 13th century, when the château was built.

The name of the château has been found in the first Bordeaux wine rankings, notably in the Ferret guide of 1868. It is a human-sized, family-run and autonomous estate. They make their wines in the Médoc tradition, respecting ancestral know-how while combining it with more modern technology.
