The winemaker
The origins of Château Tronquoy-Lalande, located in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, date back to the 18th century. The estate was owned by a succession of families until 2006, when Martin and Olivier Bouygues purchased the property, after having acquired the famous neighboring Grand Cru Classé, Château Montrose, a few months earlier. They immediately decided on a major renovation program for the vineyard and farm buildings, respecting the charm of the site and its architecture. Under the direction of Hervé Berland, Yves Delsol, the vineyard manager, and his teams set out to work with precision the terroir of Château Tronquoy-Lalande, composed of deep clay gravel overlooking the Gironde estuary. With a surface area of 30 hectares, the vineyard produces a typical Saint-Estèphe red wine, recognized as one of the appellation's finest, to which mellow tannins, spicy aromas and long finish give a distinctive style. Since 2011, one hectare of the vineyard, located on the upper plateau of the estate, has been dedicated to the production of Tronquoy-Lalande Blanc. This fine wine has a real aromatic personality of white flowers and citrus fruit. Château Tronquoy-Lalande wines are seductive in their youth, gaining in elegance after several years of ageing.
