The winemaker

A proven cooperative model

Founded in 1974, the Tutiac cooperative is today the leader in the Côtes de France and the largest producer of appellation d'origine contrôlée wine in France. The cooperative was born from the progressive merger of the region's wineries. Starting with the creation of the Cave des Hauts de Gironde in Civrac, it then joined forces twenty years later with the Cave de Saint Vivien. Mergers followed in the 2000s, notably with the cellars of Lugon, then Sauternes, in 2019 and 2020. The implementation of the production tool was also done gradually with the construction of the bottling line for example. The winegrowers of Tutiac are committed to viticultural innovation and that is why they worked for the CASDAR project which consisted in the planting of an experimental vineyard that serves French research in the viticulture sector. By giving of themselves, these 520 winemakers have developed expertise in the French wine market and exceptional skills, all with the values of sharing, mutual aid and conviviality.

A diversity of terroirs for a different vision of Bordeaux

Spread throughout the Gironde, Tutiac's vineyards evolve on the terroirs of the Bordeaux, Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux, Côtes de Bourg, Fronsac, Médoc, Graves and Sauternes appellations. Due to its exceptional location near the Gironde estuary, the vineyard benefits from the oceanic influence which moderates the high temperatures of the region which enjoys more than 240 hours of sunshine per year. The geological diversity of its terroirs also allows the winegrowers to grow vines of different traditional Bordeaux grape varieties: cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, petit verdot, malbec, semillon and sauvignon blanc. Finally, since the terroir is not complete without the know-how of man, it is appropriate to salute the 1300 families who live from the activity of the winery and who allow to magnify the fruit that is born from their work.

Various wines to build a collection that makes you dream

The diversity of terroirs and grape varieties inevitably leads to an incredible variety among the wines of the cooperative: red wines that are sometimes fresh and fruity, sometimes elegant and structured or spicy and woody. White wines that are characterized by their freshness, their citrus and white fruit aromas or vanilla notes. And Bordeaux rosés, with their pale color, pink and bluish reflections and aromas of fresh fruit. A delight for the taste buds for all enthusiasts!

Tutiac is also recognized for its environmental commitment: the first organic wine producer in Bordeaux, the winery was also the first in France to offer wines certified without pesticide residues, via the Zero Pesticide Residue (ZRP) label.
